I’m a long-time Dharma practitioner, sometime writer and full-time wanderer. My root teacher, the late Venerable Namgyal Rinpoche (aka Ananda Bodhi/Leslie George Dawson), was a Canadian trained in both the Theravada and Vajrayana Buddhist traditions, the first westerner to be recognized as a tulku by a Tibetan lineage. I’ve also had the good fortune to receive Dharma teachings and transmissions from a number of other great teachers, including HH the XVIth Karmapa, Sayadaw U Thila Wunta, Sayadaw U Janaka, Thich Nhat Hanh, HH the Dalai Lama, Kalu Rinpoche, Karma Thinley Rinpoche, Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche and Ayang Rinpoche.

I spent one Vassa as a monk in Burma. I love wild places, have a keen interest in animal welfare and believe that Shakespeare may have been a pratyekabuddha.

I am currently exploring how best to be of use as we all negotiate the momentous transition to a post-carbon world.
